These beautiful sticks are perfect for snacks.
My Monkey finished them so fast!
I'm very happy when that happens. Not everything I try so hard to make works, but when it does, it’s just a wonderful day.
Here we have two doughs, as always hiding vegetables. One has beetroot, and the other has yellow pepper. The yellow dough contains cheese and the rest needed for a bread dough: flour, salt, yeast, a bit of oil, and, of course, the yellow pepper. The beetroot dough doesn’t have cheese; I wanted to keep that beautiful colour as it is.
The recipe is very simple, and the doughs are easy to make. I always blend the vegetables very well; some even get passed through a strainer. I want to ensure that my Monkey falls in love with the colours. It’s very important NOT to find bits of vegetables—she will immediately say, “Yucky!”
After the dough has risen and is fluffy, I try to shape each dough into a square and start cutting long strips, about 2mm thick, but it depends on how you want them.
I take one of each colour and start twisting them until I form my sticks. It’s that simple!
A bit of magic “yolk and milk” gives a beautiful colour and glow, along with some seeds.
These are other things my Monkey wouldn’t normally touch, so I’m very happy that it worked!
For the sticks, I've used sesame seeds and chia seeds. Some might like a bit of salt with the seeds, but for kids, I’m not so sure—better without.
And that’s it! Just a few minutes in the oven, and they’re ready.
As I said, they are perfect for snacks!
